Brain Test Tricks: 10 Ways the Levels Fool You
Brain Test has hundreds of levels, but they reuse a small set of tricks. Once you know them, you'll spot most solutions before you need a hint. Each trick below links to a level that uses it.
- The question is part of the puzzle. Words in the question can be tapped, dragged or edited. "Feed the cat" (level 8): the word "cat" counts as a cat too. "Press the button 1 times" (level 73): you can change the number in the question.
- Take it literally. "Which one is longest?" (level 11) means the longest word, not the longest thing. "How many months have 28 days?" (level 18): all of them.
- The classic trick question. If you overtake the racer in 2nd place (level 6), you are now 2nd, not 1st.
- Something is hiding behind something. Move objects out of the way. There are more pizza slices under the ones you can see (level 5).
- The rest of the screen is in play too. The level number, the question text and other screen elements can be dragged. In level 82 you drag a number from the level title into the equation.
- Combine things. Need green but only have blue and yellow? Mix them (level 9).
- Zoom. Pinch to make things bigger or smaller, like shrinking a bus to fit under a bridge (level 55).
- Use the phone. Shake it (level 27, level 46), rotate it (level 126) or turn it upside down (level 448).
- Use two fingers. Some actions need two touches at once (level 276).
- Sometimes it's just simple. To put an elephant in the fridge (level 3), open the fridge first. Not every level is a trick; some trick you by being straightforward.
A routine for any stuck level
- Re-read the question and underline every word in your head. Which one could be taken literally?
- Tap the question words and drag the level number.
- Try to drag every object, then pinch on the biggest ones.
- Shake and rotate the phone.
- Only then open the hint. If the hint isn't enough, reveal the answer.
